The Peoria Fine Arts Association was officially formed in 2001 by members of the Peoria Arts Commission who recognized a need for an artist organization in this part of the valley. It has grown from a half dozen enthusiastic artists to 50 plus members who live in Peoria and its surrounding cities. Peoria Fine Arts Association is an association of local artist working all facets of the arts. Our mission is to promote a spirit of loyalty, good fellowship, and development of original art forms among the membership; to promote ethical principles and practices; to provide art exhibitions by members, open to the public and to promote educational programs, scholarships and grants for fine arts students. PFAA provides a monthly meeting for its members and guests. At each meeting an accomplished artist from the valley or local area provides a demonstration and talk on their particular art form. Members learn new and innovative ways of improving their own art skills through the exchange of ideas and solutions to common problems. PFAA promotes art education by annually awarding a monatary scholarship to an outstanding art student from each of the high schools in Peoria. An award is provided to the Peoria Grade School Fund to defray costs their annual art exhibit. PFAA receives support for these events from Peoria Arts Commission and is identified on the certificate given each student. PFAA meets at the Peoria Community Center on the 4th Wednesday evening of September, October, January, February, March, April, and May. In November and December it meets on the 3rd Wednesday evening due to the many holiday events. Peoria Fine Arts Association provides two juried membership exhibitions each year and often participates in other unique exhibit opportunities for its members. Membership in the Peoria Fine Arts Association is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in art. Our activities are published on our web site pfaa-az.com and in our monthly newsletter.
